5/30/18 – Co-owner & Executive Chef, Justin Ferguson, a Denham Springs native, and his team are set to open BRQ Seafood and Barbeque’s second location this September. The new restaurant will be located at 240 Range 12 Blvd., Suite 121, Denham Springs, LA 70726.

As BRQ approaches its 1-year anniversary in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, Chef Ferguson says, “This past year has been amazing; we are throwing a big party and want everyone to attend.  We love this city and neighborhood, but we are ready to expand.  I was born and raised in Denham Springs, and I am excited to share what we’ve created.  Our current team is amazing.  I couldn’t be prouder to grow and expand with them.”

Construction is set to begin in the coming weeks.  This new location will seat approximately 130, with a full bar.  “Look for similarities between the two locations; but, we are gutting and rebuilding the space.  We will have something special for my home town,” continued Ferguson.

In May 2018, BRQ won “Best BBQ” from Dig Magazine.  BRQ specializes in making everything fresh and in-house; including all of their sauces, BBQ, seafood, steaks, sandwiches, salads, desserts, brunch items, craft cocktails, daily specials, and chips and pickles.

This will be Chef Ferguson’s 11th restaurant opening.  After graduating from the Louisiana Culinary Institute in 2005, Ferguson moved to Boston where he worked as a line cook at both Tresca and Via Matta.  He later returned to Baton Rouge to open Stroube’s Chophouse, as the Executive Chef, before moving on to open Superior Seafood in New Orleans.

Ferguson has worked in Chicago as the Corporate Executive Chef at Ideology Entertainment, where he assisted in opening four concepts and directed the culinary teams at five restaurants: Blue Door Farm Stand, Blue Door Too, Chicago q, Blue Door Kitchen and Garden, and La Storia Restaurante. He had the pleasure of working alongside celebrity chef, Art Smith in the development of Blue Door Kitchen and Garden and also worked with Pitmaster, Lee Ann Whippen during her time at Chicago q.
